The latest update is regarding the dogs rescued from a recent hoarding case in Eagle Point, Oregon.
After initially being housed at Jackson County Animal Shelter, 39 dogs were transferred to Dogs for Better Lives (DBL) for temporary care transport and adoptions are finalized through Midwest Schipperke Rescue.
The dogs have been in DBL’s care since Monday, February 9, where kennel staff have been providing daily care as the dogs continue to adjust and await next steps.
One of the dogs, Sprite, is currently being evaluated by DBL’s Assistance Dog Trainers for potential placement into the organization’s Service Dog training program. 10 dogs have already been adopted, and the remaining dogs are expected to be adopted via the Midwest Schipperke Rescue in the coming weeks.

Prior to their transfer, the dogs spent approximately one month at Jackson County Animal Shelter and are up to date on vaccinations and medically cleared, including treatment for fleas and parasites.
While at DBL, precautions remain in place to ensure the health and safety of all animals, staff, and volunteers. The rescue dogs are housed separately and do not interact with DBL’s dogs in training or access shared training or outdoor spaces.
Support for these dogs has extended beyond the organizations directly involved. Community members have shown strong interest in their well-being, with many following updates, sharing information, and supporting ongoing rescue and adoption efforts.
Midwest Schipperke Rescue is providing food and supplies for the dogs, and all adoption placements are being handled through the rescue. DBL’s role is to provide temporary housing, care, and evaluation support during this interim period. For those interested,
Midwest Schipperke Rescue has provided an adoption application. Donations are also accepted to support the care of the dogs and can be made via the organization’s website.
This continues to be a coordinated effort focused on the care and future placement of the dogs.
