Eagle Point City Council discusses possibility of Little Butte bridge

The August 11 meeting of the Eagle Point City Council could be best described by the Yogi Bera quote, “It was like déjà vu all over again.” During the first meeting in July, the council heard a proposal for a suspension walking bridge across Little Butte Creek and a presentation July 28 from Hunter Communications explaining their use of micro-trenching to install fiber-optic cable.  This time it was the council’s turn to discuss the two proposals.

What Cyclospora does inside the gut and how it gets there

(NPR) This summer, tiny Cyclospora parasites have wreaked havoc on the digestive systems of thousands of people in the U.S.

It's the biggest outbreak of this parasite the U.S. has ever seen. In a July 28 update, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention counted 45 states reporting cases of cyclosporiasis — the disease caused by the parasite.

Eagle Point City Council hears public comment against Flock cameras

The Eagle Point City Council met July 28 and the issue of Flock cameras, which record the license plates, and other details, of passing cars, was front and center once again when local resident Chandler James spoke during public comment on non-agenda items. He used his three minutes to express his concerns regarding the Flock cameras around the community recording information of every passing vehicle.

Eagle Point Planning Commission reviews 71Five expansion request

The Eagle Point Planning Commission met July 21 to consider a request to approve a proposed addition to the 71Five facility on Main St. The organization purchased an open lot next to the existing property and are looking to build a basketball court and a pickleball court on the quarter-acre lot.

Hop to it GEMS 4H Rabbit Club has success at Spring Fair

The Hop to it GEMS 4-H rabbit and cavy club had a very busy and successful Spring Fair.

The Spring Fair started off with club member Tyson Tomich winning Grand Champion market rabbit pen. The reserve Grand Champion market rabbit pen was owned by Jazmine Miller, another Hop to it GEMS member.
