It took six years, but Shady Cove finally has an official ballot box.
During the Sept. 3, 2020 Shady Cove City Council meeting council directed then City Administrator Thomas Corrigan to “ask the County” if Shady Cove could have their own official drop box.
Corrigan received a hard “no” in 2020, but persistence pays and area residents now have a new drop-off option.
With post mark issues and mail delays from the United States Post Office using a drop box is now the best way for Oregonians to ensure their ballots are in by the deadline.
Having a closer ballot box option is great news not only for Shady Cove residents but also residents of Trail, Prospect and even Union Creek. With current gas prices, every mile counts and the Shady Cove ballot box cuts down on a lot of mileage.
Voting Deadlines: The Oregon Secretary of State recommends ballots sent via USPS are in the my by Oct. 27, 2026.
You can put your ballot in any official drop box by 8 p.m. Nov. 3, 2026.
