EPHS’ Brylee Leonardo pitches softball no-hitter

The Lady Eagles opened their softball season March 17 at U.S. Cellular Fields against visiting Wilsonville where they posted a 2-0 victory thanks to a complete game no-hitter by starting pitcher Brylee Leonardo. The entire game was decided in the bottom of the third inning. 

White-nose syndrome detected in bats for first time in Oregon

SALEM, Ore.— White-nose syndrome (WNS) in bats has been detected for the first time in Oregon in Columbia and Benton counties. White-nose syndrome is caused by an infection with the fungus Pseudogymnoascus destructans that disrupts hibernation, causing early winter emergence, dehydration and starvation.

Triteleia – Triplet Lilies

Growing up in northern California I knew their flowers as Harvest Brodiaeas. I loved the tall stalks with an umbel of dancing flowers at the terminus.  They look like an upside down, open umbrella with the trumpet shaped flowers at the end of each of the long petioles.
