The OSAA has realigned the sports leagues for the next four years, and Eagle Point has every reason to be unhappy. For whatever reason yet to be explained, they have created a “hybrid league” that combines 6A and 5A schools together.
The Eagle Point baseball and softball teams made the state playoffs this year with the Lady Eagles traveling to fourth-ranked Ridgeview while the baseball team traveled to fourth-ranked Summit, both on May 26. The results were a stark contrast.
Both the Eagles’ softball and baseball teams are playoff bound after closing out the regular season following a three-game set against North Eugene where the Lady Eagles won two of the last three games to cement a spot in the state playoffs. And it didn’t come easy.
The spring sports seasons are winding down as both the Eagle Point High School baseball and softball teams close out their respective seasons in search of a playoff berth. After traveling to Crater the week before and posting a win by both the Eagles and Lady Eagles, the two teams have been on a vastly different trajectories.
It was May 5, and both the Eagle Point baseball and softball teams traveled to Central Point to take on rival Crater in the first game of a pair of three-game series. The Comets’ baseball team came in ranked first in the state, and the softball team was ranked second in the state according to the OSAA. Eagle Nation was not impressed.
Sadly, the Eagle Point High School softball team’s seven-game winning streak came to an end when they traveled to Henley and dropped a 10-0 decision that ended in just four innings due to the mercy rule.
Mother Nature pushed the Eagle Point High School baseball and softball teams back a day in their respective three-game sets against Thurston, but they were able to get in all three games after an initial rainout on April 21.
It was Springfield week last week for the Eagle Point High School softball and baseball teams, which was good for the Eagles but not so much for the Millers.
Thanks to Mother Nature, it was a wild week for the baseball and softball teams of Eagle Point High School. The Lady Eagles began the week by hosting Henley on March 31 where they dropped a narrow 9-7 decision in extra innings.
