The Lady Eagles basketball team‘s playoff run is one and done after traveling to number three-ranked South Albany where they were defeated 62-30 by the Red Hawks.
Eagle Point was held to just three points on a deep three by Kady Ledbetter while South Albany went on a 15-0 run to lead 20-3 after the first eight minutes of the game. “We struggled shooting tonight from both the floor and the free throw line,” said coach Denise Ledbetter. “In part due to South Albany’s tough defense. I didn’t change our defensive plan and that’s on me. Once we went into a different defense, we held them to 11 points, and we scored eight in the second quarter.”

Emary Haning and Jill Garlitz each scored 10 points to lead the Lady Eagles. Haning shot 80% from the free throw line and grabbed six rebounds while Garlitz added four assists and five steals. The team closes out the year 8-4 in league play and 14-11 overall to finish number 13 in the OSAA state rankings.
“I am very proud of this team and the heart they played with tonight,” said the coach. “They didn’t quit no matter what the score and that tells you a lot about these girls’ character. We had a great season. I’m going to miss my five seniors. I love them dearly and wish them the best in their future.”
