Saturday, May 16, will be your last opportunity to compare the changes 126 years has made in our lifestyles when Historic Jacksonville, Inc. opens the 1870s Beekman House for our final “Daily Lifestyle Then and Now” tours. Guests can experience their grandparents’ or great grandparents’ versions of communication, fashion, etiquette, entertainment, chores, household “amenities,” and much more. Imagine life without telephones, computers, TV, radio, automobiles, and other things we take for granted—like HVAC, running water, and…bathrooms!
Forty-five-minute guided tours will begin every 30 minutes between 12n and 3pm on Saturday, May 16. The C.C. Beekman House, located at 470 E. California Street in Jacksonville, Oregon, was home to the town’s richest and most prominent pioneer family and remains completely furnished with family artifacts. Tour admission is $8 (cash or check preferred). Parking is available on site.
