Eagle Point School District 9 holds public forum to introduce superintendent candidates
Nearly 100 people crowded into the Eagle Point High School’s large meeting room on the evening of Friday, Feb. 6, 2026 to hear from three candidates vying for the Eagle Point School District superintendency. The Eagle Point School District board organized a public forum to introduce James Helmen, Heather Marinucci and Josh Middleton to the community and give those attending an opportunity to ask questions.
EPHS Wrestling team can’t be pinned down; girls basketball eyes the playoffs
The Eagle Point wrestling team enjoyed a good week posting a 58-22 dual meet victory Feb. 5 before traveling to the Cottage Grove Invitational Feb. 6 and 7 where they took the team title out of 41 schools. The Eagles totaled 272.5 points, 86 points higher than the nearest competitor.
Eagle Point one step closer to skate park as Council sets enhancement goals
The Eagle Point City Council held a special session Feb. 2 to discuss goals for the local Neighborhood Enhancement Commission for 2026. The NEC has been tasked with moving forward on local city parks and their development. It was the NEC that made a dog park happen in Chamberlain Park and most recently laid out a plan for the buildout of Nova Park across from the city library which currently includes the splash park.
Three suspects arrested in Eagle Point graffiti vandalism case
The Eagle Point police department received multiple reports of graffiti and vandalism on both public and private property Jan. 26. According to a statement from Eagle Point police, Graffiti was found on the rear of several businesses, fences, sidewalks, public walkways and the historic covered bridge.

Not surprisingly we’re going to kick off this week’s Crawlies with, “Don’t panic!”
Yes, our featured critter is a varied carpet beetle (Anthrenus verbasci) generally considered a “pest” insect.
Cri Goes Rogue – Feb. 11, 2026
This week I find myself still birdbrained— I mean, I have birds on the brain.
This happens to me this time of year every year, because the Great Backyard Bird Count is this coming weekend Feb. 13 – 16.

Well, Da Beast and I have reached another milestone. Last week saw a brief glimpse of Springlike weather with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 60s. It was time to layer up and go for a ride. So off I went to ride the Bear Creek Greenway because I always enjoy an adventure, especially one outdoors.
All Things Oregon – Roses
With Valentine’s Day just a few days away, we’re going to paint this week’s All Things Oregon with a rosy glow.
We’ll talk briefly about why Portland is called the City of Roses and we’ll explore the Washington Park International Rose Test Garden.
Then we’ll dig into types of roses and show that things are very rosy here in our area as well as up north.
